Inc. Magazine Names Promedica One of Fastest-Growing Private Companies

Burlingame, CA. August 25, 2010. Yesterday, Inc. magazine released its 2010 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America, which includes Promedica, Inc., a Burlingame, California-based market research firm (www.promedicainc.com).

Companies who make the list join an elite group, commented Inc. Editor-in-Chief Jane Berentson, "especially if you consider that over 27 million businesses are registered in the U.S.A."

Many of today's most successful U.S. companies received their first recognition when they appeared on the Inc. list. Over the years, the list has included companies such as Microsoft, Timberland, Visa, Intuit, Jamba Juice, Oracle, and Zappos.com.

Promedica conducts qualitative and quantitative primary marketing research focused on the healthcare industry - both in the U.S. and in key international markets. Its clients range from start-ups to members of the Fortune 500. Its specialty is new-product planning, with an emphasis on the strategic and tactical marketing issues that impact the successful launch of new products and ongoing lifecycle management.

The firm combines the personal attention of a "boutique" with a fully integrated field service force  that gives it the bandwidth of a much larger agency. "Agility is a competitive advantage in today's market," says Promedica President Joan R. Day. "By staying small and vertically integrated, we maintain high quality and responsiveness. Our clients also interact with our senior-level personnel, which adds strategic depth to our partnership."

Prior to co-founding Promedica in 1984, Day was director of marketing research at Searle Pharmaceuticals (now Pfizer). Her co-founder and sister, Susan R. Rowen, was manager of the Marketing Research Group for the Critical Care Division of American Hospital Supply Corporation.

Rowen currently serves as executive vice president of Promedica and believes that the Inc. honor, "speaks well of our adaptability. It is very motivating to all of us to think that after more than 25 years we are still able to grow, expand, and successfully compete in a constantly changing environment."

Day added that, "We anticipate continued growth in the next several years, as pharmaceutical and biotech companies face a number of key business challenges, including healthcare reform.  Market research must provide strategic and tactical value: everything from helping companies to understand the impact of developing trends to identifying and targeting the right decision makers in an evolving market."

The full list and rankings will appear in the September issue of Inc., and the 29th Annual Inc. 500/5000 Conference and Awards Ceremony will be held from September 30 to October 2 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
